The School day is about to end...

Ms. Blank is at the front of the room lecturing about gentrification in the Mission District of San Francisco.

Gentrification is when middle class people and big businesses move into working class neighborhoods.

This drives rents and property taxes up.

People who can no longer afford to live in the gentrified area are forced to move away.

The small businesses that served and employed them often close down.

In just a couple of years, thousands of people can be displaced.

But this is so boring!

Us kids have our own problems.

Eric drifts in and out, only hearing some of what the teacher says.
